Vienna’s English Theatre presents “Undercover Star”

By Robin Kingsland

On the 18th of February 2016, the first and second grades at our College for Nursery Education went to see this year’s performance of Vienna’s English Theatre, “Undercover Star”.

Would you like to be a celeb for a week? It surely is “a dream come true” for Hannah, a fashion student, who is asked to act as a stand-in for the Grammy-nominated pop star Ivy Rose. Hannah is chosen by Rose’s PAs, Carole and Darrell, due to her 90% facial resemblance with the superstar. Impersonating a celeb is truly challenging, but Hannah does her best to act and speak like Ivy Rose and gradually becomes more confident in the spotlight. She even survives a romantic dinner with Ivy Rose’s secret boyfriend, heartthrob Breen Calvin, whom she accidentally leaves heartbroken. Although Hannah enjoys the glamorous life of a star with all this media attention, she realizes that a lot of it is based on half-truths and lies. Soon Hannah finds out the real reason for Ivy Rose’s absence and finally succeeds in revealing the real writer of Rose’s number one-hit single “Never would lie to you”, Jemma Walker, to the public. The play ends as Hannah, Jemma and Hannah’s brother Sam, an up-and-coming musician, work on a new album, produced by Darrell.

The troupe of young and talented British actors and actresses could once more delight their audience with a thrilling and humorous show. The following comments give a better picture of our students’ perception of “Undercover Star”.
